Does and Is

Selalunya, ramai yang terkeliru antara "does/do" dan "is/am/are". I am no language teacher but I am just sharing my way of learning this back in school, and how not to get these two confused. Eh, tercampur bahasa pulak =___="

Okay, dah terlajak guee... )

Pada situasi apakah boleh guna "does", "is" dengan betul?

Okay, ni aku punya stail.
"Does/Do" ni merujuk kepada perbuatan. Makan, berjalan, berfikir (think), rasa (feel).

"Is/Am/Are" pula, macam mana? "is" ni aku ibaratkan macam ialah, adalah. Tak perlu kusut.

Contoh kesalahan yang aku dengar, baca.

"Are you subscribe to unifi?"
"You are suck!"
"He is play game right now"

Biasa yang aku tengok dan dengar macam contoh-contoh yang diberi kat atas tu.

Kalau nak guna are jugak untuk ayat pertama tu, boleh cakap macam ni
"Are you a Unifi subscriber?"
or
"Are you a celcom user?",
or
"Are you subscribing to any internet service provider?"
Kalau tak guna "are", boleh ayat macam ni "Do you subscribe to Unifi?"

Kalau "suck", orang cakap macam ni,
"You suck!" sebab "suck" tu verb, kata kerja. Jadi macam aku cakap sebelum ni, untuk verb, kita guna do/does.
Tapi, do/does tu boleh digugurkan, tak perlu. "You do suck" boleh je tapi macam panjang. Biasanya cakap orang tu "suck" nak cakap dengan cara marah, cool. Kalau cakap "You do suck" stail cakap tak cakap je. Mungkin boleh guna "You do suck" dalam keadaan dah tak larat nak marah, cakap je secara pasrah kat orang tu, "*sigh*Dude, you do suck." Hahahaha

"He is playing game right now" menunjukkan orang tu tengah, sedang dalam proses bermain game.
"He plays video game" pula membawa maksud orang tu memang main video game. Kiranya dia gamer lah dan sebab tu dia main video game.

Contoh situasi la kan. Ahmad bertanya kepada Derrick "What does Danny do when he is free?" "Oh, he plays video game, dude." balas Derrick kepada Ahmad. Macam tu.

Benda-benda macam ni, kena biasakan diri dengan perkataan-perkataan tu, adakah kita akan guna kata kerja (verb) ke atau kata-kata sifat/adjektif (adjective),kata nama (noun). Kiranya kalau selain kata kerja, baru guna is/are/am tu.

"I am beautiful."
"He is a handsome man." Bukan "he is a handsome." tergantung macam tu.

Rajin-rajinlah tengok Oh My English! Bagus amat.

Okay, selamat malam y'all!

Yep, I'm no language teacher too but I do notice these common mistakes that people usually make ^^

Untuk ayat soalan 'Are you subscribe to unifi', paling dekat nak baiki ayat ni boleh jadi 'Are/Have you subscribed to unifi'.

Other than the common mistakes mentioned, 'that's mean' juga selalu digunakan dengan selambe badaknyer, yang mana penggunaan yang sepatutnya ialah 'that means', yang membawa maksud 'ianya bermakna'. ^^

Btw, ni nanti ada yang nak cop spesis macam kekiter nih 'grammar nazi' atau simply bajet bagos... oh my society~ XD
Aaaa betul2, have you subscribed lagi tepat pertanyaan tu.
memang banyak lagi tapi buat masa sekarang bagi tau beza antara do/does dengan is/are/am. nanti ada idea bagi tau aa kat blog. boleh cilok wakakaka!

ps: takde aih orang nak cop2. husnuzon. hahaha =)

Reconnect: My Journey Back to Blogging

Hello, fellow travel enthusiasts and friends of Malaysian adventures! It's been an incredible journey, one that saw me take an unexpected hiatus from blogging for more than three years. Life happened (more like COVID happened) —responsibilities, changes, and personal growth—but one thing remained constant: my love for exploring the beauty and diversity of Malaysia. With power to put Dillan on my back, comes great responsibility! Today, I'm excited to announce my return to the world of  blogging. It's a bit like revisiting an old friend and reminiscing about unforgettable experiences. As I dust off my keyboard and sift through the memories of past travels, I can't wait to reconnect with all of you and share new adventures. Reflecting on the Past During my hiatus, I took the time to recharge, reflect, and embark on new journeys, both physically and emotionally. I've explored different aspects of life, including my passion for raising awareness about autism, delved de

Hang Tuah The Animation?

Woah, woah! Read this at beautifulnara about a three way agreements signed by Japanese anime studio Gonzo (Blood: The Last Vampire), Malaysian animation studio Funcel and Malaysia's National Film Development Corporation to produce Hang Tuah the animation! The protagonists....maybe? The antagonists...look so.. It sounds cool to me at first but I am being a bit skeptic about having non Malaysians to make an anime out of this legendary warriors, Hang Tuah and his friends. What more, I wonder are the voice actors gonna be Japanese too? I remember watching Silat Lagenda. That was awesome for our technology that time. But I think I shouldn't be all negative about Gonzo studio animating Hang Tuah because it's a collaboration....I think? Well, you guys can read more here and here . hehehehe
